Every June, an annual festival called the Asker Trebåtfestival (Asker Wooden Boat Festival) takes place in Sætre, Norway. The festival is a celebration of traditional wooden boats and is a living tribute to Norway’s seafaring traditions and craftsmanship. This year marks its 10th anniversary.
Chemring Nobel (“CHN”) proudly sponsored the festival, and to make it extra special, the organisers booked the Christian Radich ship. The Christian Radich is a majestic full-rigged tall ship from Norway, launched in 1937 and still sailing strong today. She was originally built as a training vessel for the Norwegian merchant navy and has since become one of Norway’s most iconic sailing ambassadors.
The festival weekend was filled with activities for children, teenagers, and adults and attracted a lot of people from the local community to enjoy the festivities. It is the biggest event in Saetre's calendar.
The CHN team also hosted a private event during the festival to celebrate the achievement of over 600 days without any absenteeism due to injury. This private event, organised by the team leaders in production, was open to all CHN employees and provided an opportunity to meet and greet colleagues, and their families, outside the workplace and to celebrate this significant safety milestone.
Says Bjørn Tore Gregertsen, Team Leader at CHN: “The wooden boat festival was a great event for Chemring, where we got to spend time with colleagues from other departments. The weather was also on our side, so the time on the Christian Radich was in brilliant sunshine, with lots of people and good spirits.”
