Today, 26 January, is Australia Day, a day to reflect on what it means to be Australian, to celebrate contemporary Australia and to acknowledge Australian history.
Australia Day is about recognising the contribution every Australian makes to this contemporary and dynamic nation. A key part of the day is to highlight Australia as a dynamic, diverse, and multicultural nation.
Chemring Australia (CHA) has been working hard over the past few months to cultivate inclusivity and collaboration between departments at its facility in Lara, Victoria. And to mark Australia Day, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the projects that have flourished at CHA through teamwork, respect and an appreciation of the power of inclusivity.
Dockerill Lake Facility Transformation
CHA’s Lake Dockerill facility in Australia is a space that unites the CHA workforce. The team have been tending to the gardens around the lake, which have already been taken over by local wildlife, as well as constructing an inviting BBQ area.
Many shared activities happen here including colleague lunches, swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding. It’s a great space for the team to socialise and relax.
Production lunchroom deck – coming soon!
The CHA team are also working on new outdoor decking for their production lunchroom. This will enhance the lunchtime facilities for the production teams with the addition of a brand-new outdoor decking area. The team will have the opportunity to enjoy their lunch in the sunshine, creating a more enjoyable and rejuvenating break experience.
These fantastic colleague-led projects are a great way to bring people together from different departments, with different skillsets and backgrounds, to together create inclusive spaces. The projects have had the added benefits of breaking down any divides between teams and great a greater sense of togetherness and ‘one team’ across the CHA facility.
